Dodson & Horrell To Support Blue Cross Horses

Dodson & Horrell is proud to announce its support for Blue Cross pet charity. As the market leader in quality equine nutrition, Dodson & Horrell is pleased to supply feed for all the horses and ponies at Blue Cross centres in Burford Oxfordshire and Rolleston Staffordshire. This association shows Dodson & Horrell’s increased commitment to the welfare of some of the UK’s most vulnerable horses.

A long term supporter of animal welfare charities, Dodson & Horrell has huge admiration for the work that Blue Cross undertakes - last year Blue Cross helped 428 horses and ponies find new loving homes. As well as the feed itself, Dodson & Horrell will be providing nutritional advice and support for the horses in the charity’s care.

As one of the largest horse feed manufacturers in Europe with an experienced and trusted nutritional team, Dodson & Horrell is ideally placed to help advise on the feeding of the horses and ponies at Blue Cross, as well as ensuring that the new owners of rehomed horses understand the specific nutritional requirements of their new charges. These owners will have access to the experienced team of Nutritional Advisors via the Dodson & Horrell’s helpline, which is also available to any horse owner who is seeking feeding advice.

Sam Horrell, CEO at Dodson & Horrell was there to welcome the first delivery of feed, which took place in August. He said: “The work and dedication the Blue Cross team puts into helping neglected horses and ponies throughout the UK is remarkable, we are delighted to support the charity and are looking forward to providing ongoing nutritional advice as well as feed."

Blue Cross was founded in 1897 to care for working horses on the streets of London and in 1900 they bought the first horse ambulance to be used in London to transport injured animals to hospital. Today, the charity helps over 40,000 sick, injured and homeless pets.

Vicki Alford, Horse Unit Manager at Burford Blue Cross, explains: “Blue Cross helps hundreds of unwanted and neglected horses and ponies each year and our horse teams work hard day in and day out to help rehabilitate and re-home those that need our help. Our charity is totally reliant on public donations and we are extremely grateful to Dodson & Horrell for supplying our horses and ponies with the feed and supplements they need to help get them ready for new homes. It will make a huge difference to our teams, and the horses that need our help.”
