Thoroughbred Business Development Specialist

DO YOU HAVE A PASSION FOR THOROUGHBRED NUTRITION?

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Thoroughbred Business Development Specialist to join Team D&H to drive sales and build long-term relationships within the Thoroughbred racing and breeding community. The role is Thoroughbred focused and an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the racing and breeding industry are essential, combined with a passion for thoroughbred equine nutrition and exceptional customer service. Key territory – East Anglia and Berkshire with occasional travel throughout the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of clients including breeders, trainers, and sales consignors
  • Generate leads and identify commercial opportunities
  • Conduct yard visits to assess nutritional needs and recommend appropriate feeding plans and products
  • Attend Thoroughbred sales, race meetings, and industry events to network and generate leads and contacts
  • Monitor, analyse and report on market trends and competitor activity within the Thoroughbred sector
  • Achieve sales targets and contribute to regional and national growth strategies

Experience Required 

•      Previous experience in and an in-depth knowledge of the Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry

•         Experience in building and maintaining long-term relationships with trainers, breeders, and consignors

•         Ability to manage a geographic sales territory, including travel, scheduling, and reporting.

•         Confident in delivering compelling sales pitches and in yard feed consultations

•         Financially literate and commercially astute

•         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, calendar/ Outlook, Teams, Zoom

•         Self-motivated and comfortable working independently

•         An understanding of thoroughbred horses’ nutritional requirements, Full product training will be given
