18th March - Dodson & Horrell sponsored rider Sophie Wells collects her MBE

Sophie Wells, Team GB Paralympian Dressage rider who is sponsored by Dodson & Horrell, spent an emotional day in London on 12 March collecting her MBE from Buckingham Palace.

The rider, who was part of Gold medal-winning Team GB, also claimed two silvers for her individual tests at the London 2012 Olympics and was joined by fellow para-equestrian Deborah Criddle for the Investiture Ceremony.

Named in this year’s New Year honours list Sophie travelled to London with her Mum, Dad and brother Luke to receive the MBE from Princess Anne who is Patron of the Riding for the Disabled Association.

Commenting on her memorable day, Sophie said: “This is such a huge honour for me, it really hasn’t sunk in yet. There were so many amazing people at the Palace receiving awards; it was so special to be a part that, it was an emotional day and great to have my family with me.

“I was a bit worried about the curtsey! But l thought if I can get a square half halt at X surely I can do this without wobbling!” Princess Anne asked Sophie about how she started her riding career and her plans for Rio, finishing with the encouraging words “Hope to see you there”.

Sophie Wells, who is 21 and from Nottinghamshire, is an accomplished para dressage rider who already had eight gold medals prior to her success at London 2012.

Sophie is definitely one to watch and Dodson & Horrell is a proud supporter of this talented young rider. For more information on Sophie including what she feeds her horses, click here http://www.dodsonandhorrell.com/sponsorship/sponsored-riders/sophie-wells.html
