3rd September - Dodson & Horrell Brand Ambassador Sophie Wells Remains European Supreme

Para-dressage rider Sophie Wells performed superbly at the Para Dressage European Championships in Herning, Denmark recently, winning two Individual Gold medals and Team Gold.

Sponsored by Dodson & Horrell, Sophie Wells is a fantastic ambassador for Paralympic sport and is riding high after her success at the Europeans.
For the first time, the Para Dressage event was combined with the European Championships for Dressage and Jumping, making for an exciting competition in Denmark.

The Team Para Dressage medal was decided over four days of tense sport with Sophie, Anne Dunham, Natasha Baker and Sophie Christiansen each doing two tests, the Team and Individual, in their respective grades. Sophie and Reece did the business with a win in their Grade IV Team test with 73.57% and then followed this with 75.643% two days later in the Individual – her first Gold of the championships.

Anne, Natasha and Sophie Christiansen followed suit with Silver, Gold and Gold to earn Team GB another Team Gold, ahead of Germany and Denmark, and they remain unbeaten at championship level since 1996.

Sophie and Reece then went on to score an unprecedented 80.250% in the Grade IV Kur to win another Gold medal – making a total of three Golds to add to their collection.

Sophie was in demand following her medal haul and over the past few days has been interviewed by regional BBC news programmes including BBC UpNorth, with BBC Lincolnshire broadcasting their breakfast programme from Sophie’s yard on Thursday, 29th August.

Sophie is now fully focussed on her trip to the National Championships with Reece in a few weeks’ time.
