Look out for the Build & Glow advertising campaign

Starting in today's Horse & Hound (18th February), we are launching our new advertising campaign for Build & Glow, our high calorie, high oil weight gain supplement.

The product is available now and is already proving hugely popular with studs, some of our sponsored riders and the Stanley Grange Show Team in North Yorkshire.  The new packaging will launch in the spring, so for now the product is available in a white bag.

Having identified a gap in our range for this product, we have made it available now so that our customers don't have to look for an alternative elsewhere.

So,how does Build & Glow work?  Well we’ve combined a blend of beneficial vegetable oils (full fat linseed, full fat soya & palm oil) that all have slightly different properties but which work in conjunction with one another to:

1. supply a good profile of essential fatty acids - these enhance coat & skin condition
2. optimise energy provision from oil – this is what encourages weight gain

These oils, combined with other slow releasing energy sources, will help to minimise the risk of excitability and added lecithin not only helps to support a calm even temperament but is also helps improve fat utilisation.  

Therefore Build & Glow is ideal for show horses, competition horses, sales prepping and racehorses.  In all of these scenarios owners might be faced with horses that struggle to maintain condition, are highly strung or are fussy eaters, or far more simply they would just like their horses to look a little rounder and have a stunning, shiny coat.

Because situations such as being prepared for a big competition or for the sales can be quite taxing on the body, we’ve also enhanced the recipe with vitamin E to help support the immune system – if our immune system is run down we don’t fire on all cylinders and the same goes for our horses.  With palatability in mind, we cook Build & Glow using a process known as extrusion.  This results in a small pellet that easily combines with your horse’s existing feed, making it a practical alternative to adding a big glug of oil that might cause a horse to back off its feed.

So whatever your reason for choosing Build & Glow, you can feed it in the knowledge that it comes with the Dodson & Horrell seal of quality and that we have formulated it to be free from prohibited substances, including gamma oryzanol that is commonly associated with rice bran.  This is of particular importance for customers competing under rules and as with all Dodson & Horrell products, Build & Glow complies with the new BETA NOPS code (look out for the logo and guarantee on the bag).

How to feed Build & Glow

Build & Glow is designed to be fed as an addition to your horse’s existing diet. 

100 - 200g/100kg bodyweight should be added to an existing feed.  For example: 

500kg horse                       100-200g x 5 = 0.5-1kg (approx 1-2lbs) 

This product is also suitable for foals/weanlings and 80 - 120g/100kg bodyweight should be added to the existing feed.

250kg foal/weaning          80-120 x 2.5 = 200-300g (approx 0.45-0.65lbs)
