Manufacturing Since 1939
Founded in Ringstead, Northamptonshire in 1939 by Claude Horrell, Dodson & Horrell has grown to become a respected authority on animal nutrition and Europe's leading horse feed manufacturer. Still a family business to this day and although the Dodson family have not been involved for many years, their name is still retained. The company is still based in Northamptonshire at nearby Islip and is run by John and Richard Horrell, sons of co-founder Claude Horrell.

Dodson & Horrell ingredients statement All Dodson & Horrell horse feeds and the countryside range are:
- Sourced from certified non-genetically modified ingredients
- Traceable raw materials
- Manufactured in our own medication-free mill
- Tested for prohibited substances
- Vegetarian formulation
The selection of high quality raw materials has always been an important factor in the quality of Dodson & Horrell feeds, with the majority of the raw materials being grown locally and specifically for Dodson & Horrell with all ingredients fully traceable.
With the exception of skimmed milk powder that is used in some specialist products such as Foal creep pellets, all protein sources used in Dodson & Horrell feeds are from a vegetable origin. Dodson & Horrell even ensure that the vitamins used are not gelatine coated and this enables particular feeds, such as Layers pellets to have The Vegetarian Society Approval.
This together with our policy of using only natural ingredients whenever possible, our medication-free mill and our guarantee that every product is tested for prohibited substances, means that only Dodson & Horrell feeds can be used with confidence in all situations including for horses that are being kept on organic farms.
Dodson & Horrell's manufacturing sites are approved under UFAS as non-GM status.
Dodson & Horrell routinely test raw materials for the presence of GM material and all raw materials are subjected to extensive quality control procedures
Continual Growth Having outgrown its original milling facility at Ringstead the company began development of what is now its principal manufacturing site at Islip, Northamptonshire. During 2004 a decision was taken to relocate the head office from Ringstead to Islip. This was achieved in May 2005 along with the successful commissioning of a purpose built distribution centre and brand new IT infrastructure. Milling still continues at Ringstead alongside the sale of a vast array of countryside products at the increasingly popular Country Store outlet.
Dodson & Horrell now exports to forty countries worldwide.
